Decorating a kitchen can be as simple as splashing some colour around the place. There are some great ways to add a bit of décor to your kitchen and create a truly personal place to make (and eat) your food. If you’re worried that your kitchen doesn’t have enough style then get ready to make a change.
While it’s true that your kitchen needs to have some essentials that doesn’t mean that you can’t make it something you love too. It’s easy to bring some new life to your kitchen without breaking the bank. Here are some tips for decorating your kitchen and adding some personality.
Add Some Colour
Of course the easiest way to add some flavour to a room is to simply add some colour to it. You don’t even need to bring in a tin of paint and pick up a brush. All you need is some colourful accessories such as bowls, plates, sugar/coffee jars and cups. You can even buy colourful appliances. Or you can keep it simple and find white appliances and just spice them up a little. Is your refrigerator a little too bare? Add some magnets and enjoy how it looks when you’re done.
Add Personality
Remember that it’s your kitchen. It doesn’t have to look how it did when you saw it in the showroom. Add your personality on top of what’s already there. Do you have a modern kitchen? Find modern looking things to complement it. If you’ve gone retro then find some cool retro accessories that you enjoy. When your kitchen becomes a reflection of you it makes spending time in there more fun and really shows off who you are to the people who visit. Every room in your home should be a reflection of your personality and your kitchen is no different.

Draw Attention to a Feature
The main attractive feature of your kitchen doesn’t have to be some major (and expensive) appliance. It doesn’t even need to be big. All it has to do is draw the eye of everyone who enters the room. It can be something as simple as an oversized clock or distinct tea towels. Another good option is getting a big wooden bowl and keeping fresh fruit inside it. That way you’ll also have a healthy snack on hand whenever you get hungry.
Bring the Outside Inside
If you have a backyard attached to your kitchen and enjoy growing your own herbs then it’s time to bring them in to the kitchen. Grow some easy-care plants inside your kitchen and have herbs right where you need them most. You can use really colorful pots and vases to really complement your new colour scheme too. Never underestimate how much life your bring to your home by, well, bringing some life in to it with a plant.
Arrange Appliances Properly
When you set out your kitchen it should be arranged properly. The path between your sink, stove, oven, and fridge should be simple and without any obstacles getting in the way. One popular method is the “triangle method”. This is where your three major appliances (fridge, stove, and sink) form a neat triangle. If you’ve got more appliances than that you need to arrange them a little differently however. Ideally you should keep the fridge near where you prepare food, along with your bins. You should also keep your oven and stove either adjacent to the prep area or directly opposite it.
Redecorating a room and bringing some new life to it doesn’t need to cost you a lot of money. The best way to revitalise a room has always been to add some colour and that’s real easy. Just get some nice and bright decorations and plants and enjoy the new life that they literally bring to any room. Be careful to keep any soil away from your prep area though!
